Over 1,000 employees from Wisconsin and Arizona will offer help to a number schools and charities on Tuesday as part of a community service day called "Here for Good."
Five employees from Johnson Financial Group worked with students at Olympia Brown Elementary on Tuesday. They read to the students, helped them learn their math lessons, and colored with them. Joan Kuehl, the principal, said this is the first time the school has had this many volunteers come in from a corporation to help the students. "We were thrilled to have them," Kuehl said. "Our class sizes are relatively large and we're having the volunteers help some of the kids by putting them in smaller groups to help them with reading and math." Sutfin was also named chief financial officer of Johnson Financial Group.
Judy Carre Sutfin is the new chief financial officer of Johnson Financial Group and Johnson Bank. The announcement was made Thursday by newly appointed Chief Executive Officer Tom Bolger and the Boards of Directors of Johnson Financial Group and Johnson Bank. Sutfin most recently served as CFO at AMCORE Financial, having been hired to work through the issues and eventual transition of that organization. Prior to that, Sutfin spent 23 years with LaSalle Bank Corp in Chicago, in increasing roles of responsibility across many functions and areas within accounting and finance. Sutfin succeeds, Dennis Axelson who retired from the company in January of this year. Sutfin received her Master’s Degree from the University of Chicago, and received …

Local students and businesses focus on volunteering at the Eco-Justice Center.
The Racine Dominican Eco-Justice Center, 7133 Michna Rd., Caledonia, was among the beneficiaries of volunteerism on Monday’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. A group of 17 employees from Johnson Financial Group’s information systems department and three Racine Unified high school students did a variety of chores from splitting wood to preparing fiber for future yarn. “We’re happy to have the extra help today. There’s plenty to do here,” said Sister Janet Weyker, the center’s director. Kaylah Cruz-Herrera, 17, a junior at Horlick High School, Jaquaise Ghani, 17, and Percy Davis, 16, both juniors at Case High School, were quickly put to work hauling hay from the barn to the center’s four alpacas.
