Police: Man Had Knife While Shoplifting from Kmart

Caledonia police say a man stole a variety of items from Kmart, and when they searched him, found a knife in his front pocket.

A 33-year-old Caledonia man had his initial appearance Thursday on shoplifting and carrying a concealed weapon charges. Michael Rakel was formally charged in Racine County Circuit Court with a misdemeanor count of carrying a concealed weapon, one misdemeanor count of retail theft, and a single felony count of bail jumping. If convicted of all charges, he faces up to 7-1/2 years in jail and/or up to $30,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint, Rakel was observed at Kmart by store security on April 19 taking an HDMI cord, batteries, a knife/phone pouch, and some LED vehicle lights. Woman Accused of Stealing Baby Formula to Sell, Pay for Cancer Meds

A Racine woman is accused of stealing baby formula she says she was going to sell to help pay for her cancer medications.

A Racine woman is in jail after allegedly telling officers she stole baby formula to sell to pay for her cancer medications. Therese Bolton, 39, was charged in Racine County Circuit Court with one misdemeanor count of retail theft and a felony count of bail jumping, repeater. If convicted, she faces up to six years, nine months in prison and/or up to $10,500 in fines. According to the criminal complaint, Racine Police were called to Kmart, 2211 S. Green Bay Road, on Feb. 6 for a call of shoplifting. When officers arrived, store security said they saw Bolton put three cans of baby formula in her purse and then attempt to leave the store. Caledonia Police Searching For Suspects In Purse Theft

A couple allegedly stole a woman's purse, then used it at several retail locations before the owner could cancel the cards. Caledonia Police are asking for help in solving the crime.

Two suspects allegedly took a woman’s purse sometime between 9:05 and 9:16 a.m. Jan. 3 from her car, which was parked at North Park Elementary, 4748 Elizabeth St. Caledonia Police are asking for the community to help identify the couple. They allegedly used the woman’s credit card at three different places – a Citgo gas station, Kmart in Caledonia and a Goodwill store in Sturtevant. In total, the couple racked up just over $200 in charges, said an official with the Caledonia Police Department. “The card was used at several locations before the victim could even shut it down,” police said. “It was used at Goodwill to purchase a TV/DVD combo.” Police said the woman’s car was parked in the parking lot while she walked her son to the front …

the only thing I can see is that the video that is 2 minutes long shows the guy paying with cash for about 2 minutes and the girl putting a box on the counter for about 5 seconds but then the video cuts off. Woman Accused of Stealing From Man, Chasing Nephew With Glass Shards

A Racine woman is accused of stealing a man's bank and food stamp cards, then returning them during a confrontation in front of the victim's home.

A 49-year-old Racine woman is accused of stealing a man’s food stamp and bankcards, then chasing his nephew around a Caledonia parking lot wielding shards of glass. Pamela A. Vaughn was charged in Racine County Circuit Court Monday with one count of disorderly conduct with use of a dangerous weapon, one count of criminal damage to property and one count of theft. If convicted, she faces up to 21 months in prison and $21,000 in fines. Man Charged in Razor Blade Thefts From Pick 'n Save

Suspect allegedly stole razor blades and condoms from Pick 'n Save stores in Caledonia and Mount Pleasant.

A 46-year-old Sturtevant man is facing charges after he was allegedly caught stealing razor blades on multiple occasions from area Pick ‘n Save stores. Bervis D. Sallis was charged in Racine County Circuit Court Wednesday with five counts of theft. If convicted, he faces up to 45 months in prison and $50,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: On Sept. 28, Caledonia police officers were called to Pick ‘n Save after Sallis went into the store and took six four carton packs of Gillette Fusion razor blades and left the store without paying. Kmart Employee Charged With Stealing Money From Store

Suspect tells officers she is a single mother and is seven months pregnant and needs money.

A 24-year-old Racine woman is facing charges after she allegedly stole money from a cash register while working at a Caledonia department store. Samantha J. Heusdens was charged in Racine County Circuit Court Wednesday with one count of theft. If convicted, she faces up to nine months in prison and $10,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: Caledonia police officers were called to Kmart Tuesday after a security officer discovered Heusdens had taken a total of $85 from a cash register on four separate occasions. Man Charged With Stealing Coricidin, Girl's Bicycle

Suspect allegedly asks boys playing outside of Kmart if he can film them, then tries to sell them drugs he just stole from the store.

A 30-year-old Racine man is facing charges after he allegedly stole Coricidin from two Caledonia stores along with a girl’s bike and then asked several young boys if he could film them playing with a scooter. Charles E. Kirkpatrick was charged in Racine County Circuit Court Wednesday with one count of retail theft and 17 counts of bail jumping. If convicted, he faces up to 13 ½ years in prison and $180,000 in fines. Police Arrest Man For Allegedly Stealing Baseball Cards

Joseph A. Marciniak allegedly took 25 packages of baseball cards and threatened a security officer with a box cutter. Police arrested him and now he's facing armed robbery charges, according to a report by the Caledonia Police Department.

A 33-year-old St. Francis man was charged with armed robbery by the Racine County District Attorney's Office for allegedly stealing $400 baseball cards from a Kmart store located at 5141 Douglas Avenue at 5:40 p.m. on Friday. Joseph A. Marciniak was charged with armed robbery today with a felony today. If he's convicted of the charge, Marciniak faces up to 40 years in prison and fines of up to $100,000. Marciniak took 25 packages of baseball cards and threatened a security officer with a box cutter, according to a report by the Caledonia Police Department. $9 iPhone Cable = Boatloads Of Trouble For This Guy

Man allegedly took a $9 iPhone cable and his girlfriend's car, then eluded police. But that $9 cable is going to cost him big time if he's found guilty of all of the charges he's facing.

A man suspected of shoplifting was apprehended by Caledonia Police after a Friday evening car chase. Dakeece Shyheed Miller-Ricks, 20, of Racine, allegedly took a $9 USB cable for his iPhone, then ran from Kmart security. He left his girlfriend behind, taking her car and fleeing from police. He was arrested for a felony count of eluding a police officer, retail theft, trespassing and operating a vehicle without a driver’s license. He also received numerous municipal citations. Racine's Kmarts and Sears Safe for Now

With the recent announcement of Kmart and Sears closings, there were questions as to whether Racine stores would make the cut. So far, so good.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Sears would be closing 100-120 stores across the country. Today, the first list, containing 79 stores was released.  According to the Sears media website and reported by WISN, Racine's Kmarts and Sears stores are safe. However, a Sears in West Baraboo and a Kmart in Wind Lake are on the list of closings.  More stores are expected to be added to that list by the end of 2012.  You can read the full story HERE.
