UPDATE: A Racine man is in police custody for taking jewelry at Kmart, 6141 Douglas Ave. in Caledonia on Oct. 1. Steven Mack, 45, of Racine, is also suspected of taking jewelry from J.C. Penny and Boston Store at the Regency Mall in Racine. At Boston Store, Mack is suspected of taking $28,000 in jewelry on Oct. 7 and taking $23,000 in jewelry from a Kmart store in Greenfield Oct. 1. Captain Paul Schlecht, of the Greenfield Police Department, said in his jurisdiction, Mack is suspected of grabbing a tray of rings, hiding them under his coat and leaving the store. “We’re still trying to put together a case,” Schlecht said. “Mr. Mack has invoked his right not to speak and we’re going to have to prove our case through other means. Man allegedly stole almost $500 in video games.
A man is accused of shoplifting hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise from Kmart, 5141 Douglas Ave., on Wednesday. Police arrested Craig Buck Jr., 31, of Mukwonago, after he allegedly stole almost $500 in video games, but this wasn’t Buck’s first retail theft. According to a report by the Caledonia Police Department, Buck was arrested in his car after he fled the store when a security officer inside Kmart confronted him about taking the items. Buck had an active warrant from probation and parole and had been a suspect in another retail theft on Feb. 10 where over $700 in merchandise was taken from Kmart. The Franklin Police Department and the Racine Police Department believe Buck may be connected to other thefts in their jurisdictions …

But suspects tells police the man went willingly to Kmart to get money he owed.
A 26-year-old Sturtevant man called the police from Kmart, 5141 Douglas Avenue, saying two men jumped him in Racine, put him into van and held him against his will. The victim, who said he was at the service desk, told police that one of the two men responsible was sitting in the food court area at 3:59 p.m. Friday. Police detained that man and found the second man sitting in a van in the parking lot, according to a report by the Caledonia Police Department. The victim told police he was on the corner of 17th Street and Grand Avenue in Racine when two men grabbed him and put him in a van at about 2 p.m. The two suspects allegedly punched the man in his stomach and near his right eye. Caledonia Firefighters take area children shopping K-Mart.
Bending down to talk to a 5-year-old girl clutching a pair of pink snow pants in her hands, Jeff Henningfeld, battalion chief of the Caledonia Fire Department asked,"Do you want to look for a pink Dora hat rather than the purple one?" Firefighters often don't get the credit they deserve, but members of the Caledonia Fire Department deserve kudos for what they did Wednesday night.
