In the state legislative races, the races didn't finish up until later in the evening. But here's where things were at by 11:45 p.m.
Despite the Republicans having a dismal night in the presidential race, they held a strong lead for the state assembly by 11:45 p.m. Tuesday. However, Bob Wirch (D-Kenosha) garnered more votes than Republican Pam Stevens in the race for the redistricted 22nd State Senate seat. Wirch said he was able to harness a lead because of his track record. “I have a reputation of being an independent Democrat fighting for the underdog and it doesn’t hurt you when you get a better Democrat district.” –when asked why he had success in this election Incumbent Robin Vos (R-Rochester) looked like he would maintain his 63rd State Assembly seat against political newcomer Kelly Albrecht (D-Burlington) and Tom Weatherston (R-Caledonia) also held a strong …

Melissa Lemke: 1,198 Randy Bryce: 521 Lemke fininshed the primary with about 63 percent of the vote. Results are unofficial until they have been certified by the Board of Canvassasrs, which is expected to meet this week. After the results were announced, Lemke said she was thankful for the voters who came out to vote and for earning their trust. "Randy ran a clean campaign and I appreciate all the work he's done, and I look forward to meeting more residents of the district and earning their trust as well as we head into November," she said. As for how she'll run her campaign heading into the fall…
Two Democratic primary candidates for the 62nd Assembly District have noticed that a number of their campaign yard signs have mysteriously disappeared today.
A number of campaign signs were discovered missing from where Democratic candidates Randy Bryce and Melissa Lemke say they put them over the course of several weeks. Bryce and Lemke are the Democratic candidates for the 62nd State Assembly District, which includes Caledonia, the northern part of Racine and a small part of Mount Pleasant. Between the two of them, they’ve lost more than 80 signs. Tom Weatherston, Village Board member and the Republican candidate for the 62nd State Assembly District, said he didn’t know anything about the missing signs, but said when he first started his political career he lost a lot of signs because he was putting them in the road right of way. “I lost some signs that way and I had to get them from County…

Iron worker Randy Bryce faced educator Melissa Lemke in Tuesday's Democratic primary in the 62nd Assembly, while Republican Tom Weatherston is unopposed.
Democratic voters in the newly created 62nd Assembly District will choose between political newcomers on the primary election ballot on Tuesday. Randy Bryce, a 47-year-old iron worker, who lives in Caledonia will face Melissa Lemke, a 30-year-old public health educator and researcher at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee who resides in Racine. The top vote-getter will all but certainly take on Republican candidate Tom Weatherston of Racine in the November election. Weatherston is unopposed in Tuesday's primary. The district, which had its boundaries redrawn as part of the redistricting process, now includes Caledonia, some of Racine, and some of Mount Pleasant. Here's where the candidates in the Democratic primary stand on several key…

On Tuesday, voters in the 62nd Assembly District will make a choice between Randy Bryce and Melissa Lemke. This is a sneak peek into each of them; as people, not just candidates.
I am very lucky in that I know both of the Democratic candidates for the 62nd District Assembly race. Randy Bryce and Melissa Lemke will be competing in Tuesday’s primary for the Democratic spot on the November ticket. I am also lucky because I am not a voter in this district and I do not have to choose one over the other – which would prove difficult! Randy and Melissa have done a great job at displaying their qualifications and motivations for running in this race. They are both very outspoken and heartfelt about their positions and determination to make a difference. Sometimes it helps to see elected officials as fellow human beings, as neighbors, as individual personalities. And that is what I wanted to write about today. I want the …
