Deck the House Contest: This House Could Win $100,000 for Racine Unified Schools

This Caledonia house is one of the 24 finalists in Patch’s Deck the House contest. Vote now to help this entry win $100,000 for Racine Unified schools.

Could this be the best “decked” house in the country? Possibly. Congrats to Mike and Debbie Pikula, whose Jamestown lights display has been chosen as one of the 24 finalists in our Deck the House contest. We had tons of national entries in this year’s Deck the House contest and in our quest to find the most over-the-top holiday decorations in the country, we’ve seen everything from a life-size Santa to holiday lights so bright they could blind the neighbors. We loved seeing everyone’s holiday spirit, but Deck the House isn’t over yet. We’re still looking for the one home so spectacularly decorated that it could be the national grand prize winner of our contest—and it could be a home from right here in Caledonia. According to users who voted in our annual Deck the House contest, the Pikulas' Jamestown subdivision home—decked each year by Mike and Debbie with a programmed, musical light display featuring a talking Christmas tree named Douglas Fir—has the best holiday lights here.  We had tons of national entries in this year’s Deck the House contest and in our quest to find the most over-the-top holiday decorations in the country, we’ve seen everything from a life-size Santa to holiday lights so bright they could blind the neighbors. We loved showcasing everyone’…

As much as I agree your house is the best I've seen yet Mike, I can't see giving RUSD the $100,000 when they spend money so badly...sorry :( If they would get better money managers I would have no problem with this but the way they do things now it's like flushing away the money.   more ›

Caledonia Man's Synchronized Halloween Show Is Spooky Good

Looking for a little Halloween fun? Check out Mike Pikula's backyard.

Editor's note: We ran this story last year, but updated the hours and dates of operation after we spoke with Mike. He said the lights are on and the music is going. Caledonia resident, Mike Pikula, describes his synchronized light show as "over the top." And he's right. Located at 6509 Williamsburg Way in the Jamestown subdivision, the light show can be seen from across the pond adjacent to his backyard, which is why he picked the house four years ago. The location offered the perfect setting for people to driver their cars past his backyard show and listen to the music. His Halloween show, which features 64 individual channels of Light-O-Rama control, is really the precursor to the Christmas show. The lights dim, they flash on and off and…
