Two Men Say Chicago Police Unlawfully Detained Them During NATO Protest

Caledonia residents Michael Yocco and Mike Paczesny, two men who went to film the NATO protests for We Are Change Milwaukee, said Chicago cops didn’t have probable cause to search Yocco’s car, and unlawfully detained them.

Caledonia residents Michael Yocco and Mike Paczesny are not anarchists and they were not flying an anarchy flag when Yocco was arrested on weapons charges by the Chicago Police Department near Wrigley Field on Saturday, they said.   The Chicago Sun-Times reported that the two men were anarchists, and part of the militia when they were detained at the 19th Precinct of the Chicago Police Department during the NATO protests. Yocco and Paczesny said the officers didn’t have probable cause to search Yocco’s car, unlawfully detained them and arrested Yocco because he had ammunition in his car. Caledonia Man Arrested in Chicago on Weapons Charges

Michael Yocco, who was in Chicago to protest NATO Summit, was arrested after police say they found knives and ammunition in his care.

A 28-year-old Caledonia man who was in Chicago to protest the NATO Summit is facing three weapons charges after police said they found knives and ammunition in his car. Michael Yocco is charged with carrying a dangerous weapon, unlawful use of a weapon and possession of ammunition without a Firearm Owner’s Identification card, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Yocco, of 4541 Carter Drive, was arrested Saturday after Chicago police officers stopped the car he was in and found knives and ammunition inside, the newspaper said. He and another man were wearing militia outfits and flying anarchist flags from the car, Sun-Times reported. The other man was not charged.
