With a win over the hated purple rivals, the Packers can earn a bye in the first round of the NFL playoffs, and guarantee a home game.
The Green Bay Packers can clinch the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoffs by defeating the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon. The game has been moved to 3:25 p.m. from the original noon start, and will be broadcast locally on FOX 6. A team that has won nine of its last 10 games is expected to welcome back wide receiver Jordy Nelson from a hamstring injury, but now fellow receiver Randall Cobb did not practice Wednesday or Thursday after injuring his ankle last week. Charles Woodson also has been ruled out, though he is expected back for the playoffs. Despite season-long injury issues, however, the Packers have succeeded thanks to the emergence of players such as James Jones, Mike Neal and Casey Hayward. And the running game has seen a boost…

Green Bay faces an opponent from the AFC before closing the season next week at Minnesota.
The Green Bay Packers host the Tennessee Titans at noon on Sunday, still with hopes of earning a first-round bye for the playoffs. The game will be broadcast locally on CBS 58, instead of the Packers’ usual TV home, FOX 6. Green Bay (10-4) is a half-game behind the San Francisco 49ers for the No. 2 seed in the playoffs, which would earn a bye, followed by a home game. San Francisco plays Seattle on Sunday night. Green Bay still cannot guarantee to have cornerback Charles Woodson on the field against Tennessee, as he continues recovery from a broken collarbone. Struggling kicker Mason Crosby will be there, however, earning an emphatic endorsement from coach Mike McCarthy after missing twice more against the Chicago Bears. The Titans …

The Green Bay Packers can win the division and secure a playoff berth by defeating their hated rivals to the south on Sunday afternoon.
There is a simple task in front of the Green Bay Packers when they visit the Chicago Bears at noon Sunday at Soldier Field. Win the game, win the NFC North and guarantee a playoff berth. FOX6 will broadcast the game locally, and Packers fans will see if Clay Matthews — back in the lineup after missing four games with a hamstring injury — can energize an anemic pass rush and harass “Smokin’ Jay Cutler” into the same sort of performance he had in Week 2 in Green Bay. In that game, Cutler threw four interceptions in a 23-10 Packers win. Cutler will play in Sunday’s game despite a knee sprain, but key defensive players Brian Urlacher and Tim Jennings will miss the game. After Sunday’s game with the Bears, the Packers finish the regular season …

The final question for Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker in a Thursday media conference on the 2012 presidential race was decidedly non-political — and Walker did turn it into a strong non-partisan message. How does he feel about the return of professional NFL referees to the game? The governor, U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson, reporters and a roomful of supporters in the Wauwatosa GOP Victory Center erupted in laughter. But then Walker got serious — or semi-serious. Walker said he had been on a broadcast show earlier Thursday morning, "and they said, 'And now, the governor who brought the NFL to their knees.' "I'd like to claim credit for that, but I think — no," Walker said. Walker had famously tweeted Tuesday from his @GovWalker account, “After …

The funny thing about leadership is that its departure from any area of life tends to lead to the same chaotic consequences. In the home, as in the NFL, when a leader is not found the family rules breakdown and its lack of guidance usually has a negative

Fed up with blown calls, a group of football fans is urging others to stop watching games for five days.
Fed up with the inconsistent quality of replacement referee and blown calls, a group of football fans are calling for a five-day boycott of the NFL. Organized by several Racine County residents, the boycott would run from Sept. 27 through Oct. 1 to cover the fourth week of the season. The fans say their patience was already thin with the bad officiating, but the final call at the end of the Green Bay Packers-Seattle Seahawks game was the ruling that spurred them to action. Brian Dey and Eddie Willing, both of Caledonia, issued a statement that said: "The union contract negotiations have been mishandled for several seasons, and this is the worst, at the hands of (NFL Commissioner) Roger Goodell." Even Gov. Scott Walker weighed in on the …
After M.D. Jennings of the Green Bay Packers and Gold Tate of the Seattle Seahawks simultaneously caught the football in the endzone during Monday Night Football, we want to know, do you think the replacement referees made a bogus call?
As the twitter-sphere blows up and Facebook is flooded with comments about the Green Bay Packer's loss to the Seattle Seahawks during Monday Night Football, Aaron Rodgers nine sacks and the final call that lost the game for the Pack, we want to hear what you think: Also, take our poll and share what you think should happen with the referring situation in the NFL in the comments section below! Here's what a few of the players are saying in the Twitter-sphere: GregJennings: #NFL C'MON MAN! Can't even be upset anymore. All I can do is laugh. Laugh at the #NFL for allowing America's game to come this. WOW! TJLang70: Any player/coach in Seattle that really thinks they won that game has zero integrity as a man and should be embarrassed. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers was last year's NFL MVP as the Packers went 15-1, then flamed out in the playoffs. Can they replicate last year's regular-season success?
You can tell Green Bay Packers fans are anxious for the 2012 season by the way they engaged in collective sphincter clenching over the preseason play of backup quarterback Graham Harrell. But then Harrell closed the preseason on Thursday looking more like Aaron Rodgers than Erin Moran for once in a 24-3 win over the Kansas City Chiefs. For a fan base eager to erase the memory of the Fail Mary in last year’s playoffs, it was the sort of performance — in a meaningless game, to be sure — that should turn the optimism up to 11. The Packers were 15-1 in the regular season, winning 14 games to open the season and establishing themselves as easily the best team in football. Rodgers played brilliantly at quarterback all season to earn NFL Most …

Construction season continues on roads leading to Lambeau Field in Green Bay.
Green-and-Gold drivers should plan to leave plenty early for the Sept. 8 season opening game at Lambeau Field. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation said in a written release that most routes into Green Bay will have two lanes of traffic open and work will cease well before game time. Still, Packer fans are advised to plan for delays and build extra time into their schedules. Here's a list of where construction is on-going: US 41 Brown County – drivers will encounter 11-foot travel lanes and reduced shoulders in multiple locations along a 10-mile segment of highway. Winnebago County – a majority of 16 miles of highway, from WIS 26 to Breezewood Lane, has restricted shoulders and 11-foot travel lanes. Any minor incident could lead to …
