Accused Date Rapist Met Woman Online
Suspect tells Oak Creek police officers he had sex with the victim after breakfast but it was consensual.
A 47-year-old Racine man is accused of date raping a woman he met on a website. Robert C. Laypath was charged in Racine County Circuit Court Tuesday with one count of second-degree sexual assault. If convicted, he faces up to 25 years in prison and $100,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint, on Nov. 26, a woman who met Laypath on a website met him for breakfast at Perkin’s in Oak Creek. The woman had an omelet, then drove with Laypath to his home in the 1900 block of Saturn Avenue. Around 1 p.m., police say the woman called her daughter while driving saying she didn’t know where she was and didn't know the date.
