OAK CREEK, WI -- A man found with ammunition in his vehicle and "strange" writings about the mass shooting in Aurora, Colorado was detained Sunday morning outside the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin. A police officer saw the man, a 32-year-old from Maryland, enter the temple about 8:40 a.m., according to an Oak Creek police report. He initially told the officer he drove to the temple wanting to pray with temple members after watching a story about the Aug. 5 shootings, when six were killed and four wounded by white supremacist Wade Michael Page. The man later told police he was writing a book and wanted to talk to members. Police make arrest in parking lot of Wendy's.
It turns out the parking lot of Wendy's is not the most private area to get intimate. Oak Creek police cited two people for multiple offenses after they were allegedly caught doing just that about 2 a.m. Saturday. A motorist first called 911 reporting a possible intoxicated driver swerving on Interstate 94 and then exiting at Ryan Road. The caller then realized the driver wasn't drunk, but that a female passenger was "performing a sexual act" on him, according to the report. An officer found the vehicle parked at Wendy's, 9503 S. 13th St., amid semi-trucks. He observed the driver, 33, lying on top of the woman in the passenger seat, the report said. Driver and two passengers cited for trespassing.
A vehicle smashed through the main gate at the We Energies power plant Friday night. According to an Oak Creek police report, the vehicle drove around on We Energies' property, near the corner of Chicago and Elm roads, about 9:25 p.m. Authorities had the vehicle trapped after the Caledonia Police Department was called to block the south entrance. After police stopped the car, the driver told an officer he was lost and did not see the gate arm down, according to the report. He was cited for trespassing and criminal damage to property. Two passengers in the car were also cited for trespassing.
