In the state legislative races, the races didn't finish up until later in the evening. But here's where things were at by 11:45 p.m.
Despite the Republicans having a dismal night in the presidential race, they held a strong lead for the state assembly by 11:45 p.m. Tuesday. However, Bob Wirch (D-Kenosha) garnered more votes than Republican Pam Stevens in the race for the redistricted 22nd State Senate seat. Wirch said he was able to harness a lead because of his track record. “I have a reputation of being an independent Democrat fighting for the underdog and it doesn’t hurt you when you get a better Democrat district.” –when asked why he had success in this election Incumbent Robin Vos (R-Rochester) looked like he would maintain his 63rd State Assembly seat against political newcomer Kelly Albrecht (D-Burlington) and Tom Weatherston (R-Caledonia) also held a strong …

Patch and WGTD Radio are hosting a debate tonight for the 22nd Senate and 63rd and 62nd Assembly districts. And, after the Legislative forum, stay and watch the presidential debate with us.
**Updated 1 p.m. Oct. 22 Everyone is invited to the Patch and WGTD Radio live candidates forum tonight featuring the candidates for three legislative districts. From 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. at Case High School, 7345 Washington Ave., we will have a debate featuring the candidates from the 22nd Senate and 63rd and 62nd Assembly districts. All six candidates vying for three seats in the state legislature have agreed to participate: Republican Tom Weatherson and Democrat Melissa Lemke in the 62nd Assembly District; Rep. Robin Vos, R-Rochester, and Democrat Kelley Albrecht in the 63rd Assembly District; and state Sen. Bob Wirch and Republican Pam Stevens in the 22nd Senate District. The 2012 fall election season is in fulll swing. Patch and WGTD Radio are working together to sponsor debates for the major races in our area, including Rep. Paul Ryan's re-election race in the First Congressional District.
**Updated 1 p.m. Sept. 25 Patch and WGTD Radio are busy hammering out the details for two debates next month; one featuring Rep. Paul Ryan and challenger Rob Zerban and a second highlighting the six candidates up for three state legislature seats. On Sept. 11, we issued a formal invitation to both Ryan and Zerban to attend a live debate at 7 p.m. on Oct. 25. Since then, Zerban has confirmed he will attend, and Ryan’s campaign has said they can’t confirm Ryan’s attendance just yet.
