Addressing the Racine Tea Party at a forum on health care, Rep. Paul Ryan, State Rep. Robin Vos and State Sen. Leah Vukmir told the crowd in Racine County on Sunday it's time for them to take action if they want to see the Affordable Care Act repealed.

None of the U.S. elected officials from Wisconsin particularly cared for the deal hammered out to avoid the "fiscal cliff" — and that includes those who voted for it.
The "fiscal cliff" was averted Tuesday when the U.S. House handily passed a bill approved a day earlier in the U.S. Senate that raised taxes on the wealthy and staved off a tax increase for the middle-class. The bill passed 257-167 in the House, a comfortable 40 votes more than what was needed to become law. Among the congressmen serving southeastern Wisconsin, U.S. Reps. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI 5th District) and Tom Petri (R-WI 6th District) voted "no" on the measure, while U.S. Reps. He's not going to be vice president, but the congressman from Janesville came out the clear winner in his re-election bid for U.S. House.
Despite a solid effort and backing from local Democratic parties, challenger Rob Zerban fell short Tuesday in his effort to unseat U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan in the race for the 1st Congressional District. It was pretty crowded at the UAW hall in Kenosha by 9 p.m., where local Democrats, including Zerban and 22nd Distric State Senator Bob Wirch, were awaiting results. Racine County voters, turns out, have their finger on the pulse of the entire country. For the last four elections—1996 through 2008—we've voted for the eventual President of the United States. While the state has gone consistently Democratic since 1984, we're a little more flexible here.
