Addressing the Racine Tea Party at a forum on health care, Rep. Paul Ryan, State Rep. Robin Vos and State Sen. Leah Vukmir told the crowd in Racine County on Sunday it's time for them to take action if they want to see the Affordable Care Act repealed.
Expressing their disdain for the Affordable Health Care Act, Rep. Paul Ryan and other state Republicans Sunday evangelized their anti-Obamacare message and asked the Racine Tea Party faithful to go out and spread the message that it isn’t working. One by one, notable Republicans got up in front of the roughly 300 people gathered at the Racine Tea Party Healthcare Forum at South Hills Country Club in Caledonia. In turn, they each dissected the health-care law and said how the American people made a decision in November they may come to regret. Headlining speaker Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Janesville, called the law “fundamentally flawed” in its conception and implementation, and said it is doomed to fail. “Obamacare is too overarching and it runs …
Former vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan said Obamacare was doomed to fail, as he spoke at a Racine Tea Party event on Sunday.
In Paul Ryan’s first appearance in his home state since his failed vice presidential bid, the Republican congressman took aim squarely at Obamacare — and warned that if changes aren’t made, insurance and the health-care system will fall apart. Ryan was the headlining speaker at a Racine Tea Party event Sunday afternoon in Caledonia. Focused on the Affordable Care Act — commonly referred to as Obamacare — he and other speakers told the crowd of about 300 what was wrong with the law. They said even though Democrats still hold the White House, Republicans are committed to fighting it. Read more about Sunday’s Racine Tea Party event. Ryan called the law “fundamentally flawed” in both its conception and implementation. Republicans had three …

None of the U.S. elected officials from Wisconsin particularly cared for the deal hammered out to avoid the "fiscal cliff" — and that includes those who voted for it.
The "fiscal cliff" was averted Tuesday when the U.S. House handily passed a bill approved a day earlier in the U.S. Senate that raised taxes on the wealthy and staved off a tax increase for the middle-class. The bill passed 257-167 in the House, a comfortable 40 votes more than what was needed to become law. Among the congressmen serving southeastern Wisconsin, U.S. Reps. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI 5th District) and Tom Petri (R-WI 6th District) voted "no" on the measure, while U.S. Reps. Paul Ryan (R- WI 1st District) and Gwen Moore (D- WI 4th District) cast "yes" votes. U.S. Rep. Sean Duffy (R-WI 7th District), who now serves the Hudson area, voted no. The U.S. Senate passed the bill 89-8 on Monday with Republican Ron Johnson and Democrat …

He's not going to be vice president, but the congressman from Janesville came out the clear winner in his re-election bid for U.S. House.
Despite a solid effort and backing from local Democratic parties, challenger Rob Zerban fell short Tuesday in his effort to unseat U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan in the race for the 1st Congressional District. It was pretty crowded at the UAW hall in Kenosha by 9 p.m., where local Democrats, including Zerban and 22nd Distric State Senator Bob Wirch, were awaiting results. The crowd cheered every time another Democrat was shown as a projected winner on the screens tuned to political coverage, but when it came down to it, the Ryan campaign machine proved too much. According to our media partners at Fox 6 News, at 9:46 p.m. Ryan was up by a nearly 2-to-1 margin; 62 to 36 percent, with 20 percent of precincts reporting. At about 10 p.m., the Associated …
President Barack Obama, on his way to re-election win's Wisconsin's 10 electoral votes after defeating former Gov. Mitt Romney Tuesday.
President Barack Obama has won Wisconsin, considered by political pundits as a major swing state that would go a long way in deciding the 2012 presidential election. Obama was declared the state’s projected winner over Gov. Mitt Romney. Obama and running mate Joe Biden overcame the popularity uptick Romney undoubtedly received when he announced Wisconsin congressman Paul Ryan of Janesville as his vice presidential candidate this summer. With the victory, Obama picked up 10 important electoral votes toward the 270 required to win the presidency. At approximately 10:15 p.m., CNN declared Obama a winner in Ohio, essentially giving him the election. As of 1 a.m. Wednesday, with 91 percent of the vote counted in Wisconsin, Obama was leading …

Don't wait up Tuesday night for the national returns for the presidential election. Look instead to how we vote right here in Racine County because for the last four elections, as our county goes, so goes the country.
Racine County voters, turns out, have their finger on the pulse of the entire country. For the last four elections—1996 through 2008—we've voted for the eventual President of the United States. While the state has gone consistently Democratic since 1984, we're a little more flexible here. "We seem to definitely sway more purple than anything else," said Bill Folk, chair of the Republican Party of Racine County. "For example, the same 60 percent that voted for Russ Feingold in 2006 also voted for Paul Ryan." Jane Witt, chair of the county Democratic Party, though, thinks this year might be the break in the pattern. "I won't be surprised if President Obama doesn't carry Racine County, but I still think he'll win," she said. "This year could …

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson, U.S. Rep. Sean Duffy, former U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman and others spoke at a Saturday rally in Hudson, Wisconsin.
Several high-profile Republicans rallied in western Wisconsin Saturday in front of hundreds of people in support of presidential candidate Mitt Romney and other GOP candidates. The early evening event featured the following speakers: Wisconsin is considered a swing state in the presidential race, and it also features a very close races between former Republican Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson and Democratic U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin for Herb Kohl's U.S. Senate seat. After recent redistricting, Hudson is now in Wisconsin's Seventh Congressional District, and first-term Republican U.S. Rep. Sean Duffy is facing a tough challenge from former Democratic State Sen. Pat Kreitlow. All the races will be decided on Tuesday, Nov. 6, when voters across …

Republican U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan is being challenged by Democrat Rob Zerban, a former member of the Kenosha County Board, and Libertarian candidate Keith Deschler.
It’s the Paul Ryan race who is flying beneath the radar: In addition to running for vice president, the Janesville congressman is on the ticket for his current seat in the U.S. House. Ryan’s campaign and his Democratic opponent offer sharply contrasting views of the incumbent. There is also a Libertarian candidate in the race, Keith Deschler, who says he is running to balance the federal budget. Ryan’s Democrat opponent, Rob Zerban, argues that Ryan’s rising national stature has only soured some back at home who were unaware of his positions. Those positions, Zerban told Patch, he considers extreme. He noted that Ryan worked in Washington right after leaving college — as a congressional aide and for a think tank. “He’s a Washington insider…

Paul Ryan visited Memorial Hall in Racine Wednesday as part of a GOP victory rally tour.
Vice presidential candidate and 1st District congressman Paul Ryan visited Memorial Hall in Racine Wednesday to boost the energy and momentum of local conservatives. Before he took the stage, big-name Republicans said a few words outlining why they think the country needs Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan to win the White House on Nove. 6. And like at past rallies - including the Rally for Jobs hosted by the Racine Tea Party on Saturday - residents were encouraged to vote early absentee so that on election day, they can help ferry voters to the polls. Leaders also took a page traditionally in the Democrats' wheelhouse by telling supporters to make phone calls, knock on doors, and talk to everyone they come in contact with about why the Romney-Ryan…
