Police: Flip-Flop Wearing Franksville Man Flees Traffic Stop

Suspect charged with obstruction and felony bail jumping after running from police.

A 23-year-old Franksville man is accused of trying to flee from Caledonia police officers during a traffic stop. Joseph Mark Wise was charged in Racine County Circuit Court Tuesday with one count of obstructing an officer and two counts of felony bail jumping. If convicted, he faces up to nearly seven years in prison and $30,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: At 1:57 p.m. Monday, a Caledonia police officer was headed westbound on Highway G west of Highway V, when he spotted Wise driving eastbound doing 67 miles per hour in a 45 miles per hour speed zone. Alabama man runs from the cops after they see him speeding in his father-in-law's car.

A 45-year-old Alabama man is facing charges after he allegedly fled from Caledonia police officers after they spotted him speeding in the village. Anthony W. Phillips, of Sylvania, Ala., was charged in Racine County Circuit Court Tuesday with one count of attempting to flee an officer. If convicted, he faces up to 3 ½ years in prison and $10,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: Two Caledonia police officers were in their squads Sunday and monitoring traffic in the 4200 block of North Main Street, when they saw Phillips drive by northbound doing 54 miles per hour in a 35 miles per hour speed zone.
