Racine Domincan Sisters Recognized For Role In Community Improvement

These women take the "betterment of life in Racine County" to heart and Racine County is honoring them for Women's History Month.

Once again Racine County has formally supported Women’s’ History Month with a proclamation calling March Women’s’ History Month in Racine County. The proclamation this year recognized the Racine Dominican Sisters for their 150 years of dedicated work to improve our community through their ongoing commitment and contributions to the “betterment of life in Racine County.” Congratulations to the Dominican Sisters for what they have accomplished leading to their Sesquicentennial. Extremely well deserved. I share common property lines, become friends with many ofthe Sisters over the years & help them on projects when possible. If each of us were half as committed to helping our community, the world would be 100 times better than today.   more ›

UPDATE: Village Board To Talk About Highway 38 Realignment And Ad Hoc Committee

Now the DOT says, let's reevaluate.

UPDATE Nov. 14: At 7 p.m. July 15 at the East Side Community Center, 6156 Douglas Ave., the Village Board will discuss alternatives for the realignment of Highway 38, which includes a potential jurisdictional update of Four Mile Road. They also want to reconsider the 2035 transportation plan. Original story: The County Board doesn’t want Highway 38 rerouted and neither does Caledonia Village Board, but some residents say they want a new road. And now, amongst the confusion and lack of support, the project has now been put on hold by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and will be reevaluated in January, a process that can take up to a year. According to a story by the Racine Journal Times, the County Board voted unanimously at their…

PUBLIC NOTICE: Racine County Public Hearing for Fewer Supervisors

New state and local ward maps will reduce the number of County Supervisors by about 10 percent for the next 10 years.

All Racine County residents are invited to a public hearing at 6 pm on Sept. 7 to give feedback about reducing the number of county supervisors. The hearing will be at the Ives Grove Building, 14200 Washington Avenue. New district maps at the state and municipal level mean the number of representatives on the County Board will go down from 23 to 21. In a press release/public notice from the Office of the Racine County Board, a public hearing is required before the full board votes on the measure on Sept. 13. The County Board’s Special Committee Regarding Reapportionment voted 5-0 at its Aug. 31 meeting to reduce the size of the board. State requirements say the plan has to be passed by Sept. 19. “In light of our economy and fiscal …
