RFI Chair John Erskine is retiring, but the company's operations will not move from its Mount Pleasant location.
When Racine Federated Chairman John Erskine, Jr. met with his employees right before the 2011 holidays, he had two major announcements: he was retiring and the company was getting acquired by Badger Meter of Milwaukee. The deal, Erskine said, comes at the right time for the company and the Erskine family. "We are looking at growing much faster than we would be able to do on our own," he said during a media announcement event on Jan. 3. "It's the appropriate time, too, with considerations of the extended family." Racine Federated (RFI) and Badger Meter both specialize in flow management, and the deal will bring together the companies' core strengths.
