LongHorn Steakhouse is expected to open its third Wisconsin location this month at the old Leath Furniture location near Southridge Mall in Greendale. The restaurant will be next to the future Panda Express and will seat more than 200 people. The two companies have joined forces to urge Congress to “Come Together” before tax hikes and spending cuts push America over the “fiscal cliff.”
On any given day, Mount Pleasant, Sturtevant, Caledonia and Washington, D.C., might seem like they’re a million miles apart. Today is not one of those days. As Congress and President Barack Obama attempt to hash out differences to stop America from falling over the “fiscal cliff,” Patch and Starbucks are teaming up to urge Republicans and Democrats to “come together.” The two companies are working together to make sure Congress gets the message America wants a viable solution to the country’s financial woes. Happy New Year! 2013 is looking bright, indeed, isn't it? Unlike on Christmas Day, when the majority of businesses are closed, New Year's Day is a lot more open. Whether you need to run out and grab some eats or you ran out of eats and need a refill, there are plenty of places open Tuesday to take care of you. Piggly Wiggly on Washington Avenue is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. They have a fully stocked deli full of wings and an expansive craft beer area to keep the fun flowing during the various bowl games. Here's two fabulous words for a summer day: free and Starbucks. The coffee giant will be offering a free tall (12-ounce) Refreshers beverage from noon to 3 p.m. on Friday. The flavors are Cool Lime, which includes real lime, and Very Berry Hibiscus, which features whole blackberries. With the heat very much on again Friday, a cool beverage will surely hit the spot. But which one will hit the spot? Ah, decisions, decisions. There is a limit of one drink per person, and it is available while supplies last. Lucky for us, we have two Starbucks in our area; one on Washington Avenue and another on Highway 31.

When it's warm out, there's nothing better than strolling around with a frothy beverage. Yeah, I know. It feels like it's August around here. But alas, you can still get a cold drink -- and for a bargain price, too. Starbucks is launching its annual Happy Hour on Friday, where Frappuccinos are half-price between 3-5 p.m. through May 13. That means you can get one of the blended beverages for as little as $2.
