Man Accused of Giving Fake Name to Cops

Caledonia man tried posing as his cousin during a traffic stop in Racine.

A 33-year-old Caledonia man is accused of giving a fake name to a Racine police officer in order to try and avoid arrest for outstanding warrants early Tuesday. Charles Tyreece Phillips was charged in Racine County Circuit Court Tuesday with one count of obstructing an officer. If convicted, he faces up to nine months in prison and $10,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: At 1:38 a.m. Tuesday, a Racine police officer pulled over a car for suspended registration operated by someone with a suspended drivers license on Highway 32 near 3 Mile Road. During the traffic stop, Phillips was sitting in the passenger seat and tried to get out, but his door was shut by an officer who told him to stay in the car. Phillips said his name …
