A woman's face was cut by shattered glass after the tires from a box truck came off, went across the freeway and struck her windshield. Those are the only injuries reported in the early morning incident.
The tandem wheels of a box truck came off while it was driving north on Interstate 94 early Thursday morning, flying across the median and striking an oncoming car. A set of tandem wheels came off the Chevy G30 box truck at 6:21 a.m., when eight bolts that hold the wheels together unexpectedly sheared off, according to information from the Racine County Sheriff's Department. The wheels went across the median and smashed into the front hood of a car headed south. The wheels then bounced into the car's windshield, directly in front of the female driver, and shattered the glass. New partnership enables TV station and community websites to join resources for expanded coverage of southeastern Wisconsin.
The 15 Patch websites in southeastern Wisconsin and WISN 12 have entered into a new partnership that will intensify local news and sports coverage throughout the region. The two news outlets are combining resources and sharing content, and will be partnering on big stories and events all over the Milwaukee area. Because all Patch editors either live in the communities they cover or just minutes away, they are often first on the scene when suburban stories break. Over 300 law enforcement, fire and rescue personnel responded to a massive 9 alarm fire in Burlington last night and among them were several South Shore firefighters.
Firefighters from the South Shore Fire Department were among the 93 fire departments that responded to a nine-alarm fire in the City of Burlington Wednesday night, according to our media partners at Channel 12. The Burlington Fire Department initially responded to the fire at 6:05 p.m. at Echo Lake Foods, 33102 S Honey Lake Rd. After arriving, they found a “significant fire” and called neighboring departments to help battle the blaze. Leading up to the Aug. 14 primary, Patch will regularly bring you the latest news from the campaigns for Wisconsin's U.S. Senate seat in play this election cycle. WISN cancels debate WISN-TV (Channel 12) on Tuesday cancelled a debate planned with GOP candidates due to scheduling issues between the station and Eric Hovde's campaign. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, representatives of the station were able to get commitments from the Tommy Thompson, Mark Neumann and Jeff Fitzgerald campaigns, but they did not come to a consensus with Hovde.
