The $1.36 million water tower at 4611 7-Mile Road is nearly completed, said Caledonia Water Utility Commissioner Bob Bradley. "We are about two-thirds of the way done and we are right on schedule," he said. The tower does need a coat of paint, but that step has to wait until spring. Once the tower is completed, it will hold 750,000 gallons of water, compared to the previous tower which held 100,000 gallons. Bradley said the tower will primarily be used for fire protection in areas not served by municipal water and will also help regulate water pressure for homes further away from the water treatment facility in Oak Creek.

10-week-old June was rescued Monday evening by Wayne Clingman and his wife. Children in their neighborhood had rocks in their hands, and they were chasing the kitten. Klingman said he has no proof the kids would have harmed the cat, but he wasn't taking any chances. June is now at the Racine campus of the Wisconsin Humane Society in Mount Pleasant and is on a stray hold for seven days. After the hold expires, she will be available for adoption.
