Kristin Bauer van Straten portrays Pam, a vampire who has a close bond with her maker, Eric, in True Blood on HBO. Kristin, a Caledonia native, has been a great success on the show. Sunday was the start of the fourth season of True Blood, and I decided to catch up on season 3 to prepare. The likable Sooki, played by Anna Paquin, has faced so many obstacles and totally bizarre situations. I find myself wondering if there is any normal story line left.

Producer, Alan Ball, seems to be able to use this adventurous story line to continue to try new things on the show. This was not the case when Ball produced Six Feet Under, a fantastic show that ended because there was no more room for growth. This time, Ball seems to be traveling in a different direction. And this season, they have added to the cast Fiona Shaw, best known as Aunt Petunia in the Harry Potter movies, where she portrays a witch with hair-raising powers.

"She's Not There," the first episode of True Blood's fourth season, thrusts us right into the mayhem and supernatural madness we were trying to figure out when last season came to an end. We begin with Sookie Stackhouse crossing over into faerie land, and get adequately briefed on the ins and outs of faeries, witches, werepanthers, shape-shifters, and possible demonic baby — but it's the vampire storyline that remains most compelling. Though this season, like its predecessors, closely follows the same numbered volume of Charlaine Harris' best-selling Sookie Stackhouse novels, the series runs the risk of confusion over camp with the ever-increasing number of characters it introduces. Even though Bill and Sookie are not together at this point, since she is still upset about learning of all of Bill’s lies. They are married in real life and have spent a little over a year together. I wondering if relationships like this one only materialize because of the project that they are working on or if there was some pre True Blood relationship. Is it common for actors and actresses to meet and hook up because of the intense amount of time they work on a series or movies, does that correlate to the high numbers of Hollywood divorces? It will be interesting to see how the season develops.
