UPDATE: Caledonia Man Buys Former Elks Club

Ronnie Zold and Randy Kressing will likely open up a bar as SBN Shuffle Bear North in August.

UPDATE: The Village Board voted unanimously to approve the requested liquor license.

The former Elks Club, which was shuttered in January, will likely re-open under different ownership in August.

Ron Zold, of Caledonia, bought the building, which is located at 5844 Douglas Ave. He and Randy Kressing plan to open up a restaurant and small bar called SBN Shuffle Bear North. Once that the bar and restaurant is up and running, the pair plan to open up a banquet hall.

Zold and Kressing told officials with the Legislative and Licensing Committee at their meeting Tuesday that they also plan to eventually put in horseshoe pits and volleyball courts. The Committee recommended to approve a Class B combo license, which will ultimately need the final approval of the Village Board.

Kressing said they plan to serve a fish fry, burgers, brats and hot dogs.

“We’re going to have a small bar with TVs and a banquet hall,” Kressing said. “We’re looking to open Aug. 1 for the bar.”

Zold and Kressing will need to come back to the Village Board on Tuesday, July 19.
