Lightning Strikes 2 Homes, Sparks 1 Fire During Sunday's Wild Weather

Sunday's downpour produced some lightening strikes, two of which struck homes in Caledonia.

Two homes in Caledonia were struck by lightning Sunday, one of which was damaged by fire, during thunderstorms and heavy rain.

Caledonia Fire responded to calls of a fire at 6247 Alex Turn at 5:41 p.m. Neighbors saw the strike and the resulting flames, according to a story in the Journal Times. Most of the damage was in the attic from both the fire and water from rain and fire hoses.

CAFD Lt. Tom Ohl said the homeowners would not be able to live in the house while it is being rebuilt.

Another home at 6509 Williamsburg Way was struck, and while lightning put a hole in the house, there was not also a fire.
