Forester-Hoare wore a dark suit with a light blue tie and was silent during the proceedings as attorneys for the defense and prosecution questioned the potential jurors.

During the jury selection process, District Attorney Richard Chiapete asked if any jurors worked with or knew Jonathan Kwiatkowski’s parents, Lori and Timothy Kwiatkowski, or any of the witnesses in the trial.

Jonathan LaVoy, the defense attorney, asked the potential jurors if they owned knives for protection, if anyone had a carry conceal weapons permit and if they could endure listening to an emotional 911 call and make a fair and impartial judgment about the case.

Some of the potential jurors said they did own weapons for protection, and had used a knife for field dressing a deer.

At one point, LaVoy told the potential jurors that they would be exposed to a chilling 911 call.

“Due to the nature of this case, you will hear several emotional 911 calls,” Lavoy said.

According to the criminal complaint and PRIOR testimony from Jonathan's mother, Lori Kwiatkowski, Jonathan died just after he was stabbed in the throat while he was on the phone with a 911 dispatcher.

Forester-Hoare also allegedly punched Lori and Tim Kwiatkowski. This prompted Chiapete to file two additional charges against Forester-Hoare for the alleged altercation last year.

Forester-Hoare already faced life in prison if he was found guilty on the homicide charge.

Chiapete, and  LaVoy, are expected to give their opening statements on Tuesday in Judge Allan B. Torhorst's courtroom.
