Caledonia Man Waives Hearing In Assault, Weapons and Drug Cases

Derek Lynn to be arraigned next week in Racine Circuit Court.

A Caledonia man facing numerous drug, weapon, bail jumping and battery charges in two separate incidents last week waived his right to preliminary hearing Wednesday in a Racine Circuit Court. 

Derek Lynn, 39, is scheduled to be arraigned Aug. 3 after the court found probable cause in the state's two criminal complaints against him. Lynn faces up to 89 years and one month in prison and up to $61,000, if found guilty on all charges. 

On July 15, Lynn after they allegedly found a butcher knife, switchblade, and narcotics in his car. 

Six days later, Lynn’s . Later in the evening, Lynn allegedly physically assaulted his girlfriend, according to the criminal complaint. Lynn punched the woman, pulled her out of a vehicle by her hair, grabbed a gas can from the trunk of a car and he poured gas on her. While doing this, he threatened to kill her, the complaint said. 

The woman blacked out. When she woke up she was in the kitchen and Lynn was hitting her. He then told her to go take a shower and come to bed, but the woman told police she snuck out of the house, according to the complaint. 

When police found drug paraphernalia, heroin, marijuana and a rifle at the house Lynn shared with his girlfriend, the complaint said.
