48-year-old man cited for drunk driving, open intoxicants

A 48-year-old man was taken into custody for alleged drunk driving at the corner of Douglas Avenue and Carlton Drive at 2:15 a.m. July 24. 

Christopher Haas of Racine was also cited for open intoxicants in a motor vehicle after an open bottle of rum was found in the back seat of the vehicle he was driving.

Haas told police he was angry at them for not out catching the real criminals, according to the police report. Haas also told police that he “was going to get us police back,” “we got ours coming” and “to watch our backs,” according to the report.  

Firecracker destroys mailbox

A mailbox was destroyed by an M-80 type of firecracker in the 5400 block of Whirlaway Lane between midnight and 1 a.m. July 23.

The owner of the mailbox heard fireworks during the night before finding his mailbox blown off its pedestal post the next morning, according to police. 

The M-80 was apparently thrown into the mailbox and the door was closed, according to the police.  

Rummage sale box stolen from apartment

A box of rummage sale items were stolen from a residence in the 4000 block of North Main Street at about 7 p.m. July 21.

The resident told police she was out of the apartment for about 15 minutes taking out the garbage with her dog when the theft occurred. 

The box, which was being packed for a rummage sale, contained about 20 CDs and cosmetic containers. The owner of the box said the contents where valued at about $300.  

Dirt bike taken 

A dirt bike was stolen from outside of a residence in the 6000 block of County Highway V between 9 and 10:30 p.m. July 20. The bike, which had been for sale, was chained to a wood post. The bike, according to the owner, was being sold for $1,000. The bike has a white frame, black fenders, a red seat and a white gas tank.
