Child Porn Defendant Pleads Not Guilty To Child Sex Charges

Alex Richter, 28, of Racine, is accused of making sex tapes of children that he was supposed to be babysitting. He made an appearance in Racine County court today.

A 28-year-old Racine man accused of multiple child sex crimes pleaded not guilty to 49 felony counts this morning in a Racine County courtroom.

Alex Richter wore a bulletproof apron from his shoulders to his ankles when he waived his preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty to both cases against him. Between the two cases, a total of 49 felony counts of child sex assault, child pornography and exploitation of children/filming have been levied against Richter.

So far, six children have been named victims in the cases. A mother of one of the victims was in court and was visibly shaking as she exited the courtroom after Richter entered his plea. She was seen talking to members of the victim-witness team following the court proceedings.

Richter was charged Nov. 12 in Racine County Circuit Court with 26 felony counts including two counts of first degree repeated sexual assault of a child; 12 counts of sexual exploitation of a child/filming, and 12 counts of child pornography. On Nov. 15, Richter was charged with 23 new felony counts of sexual assault of a child, exploitation of a child/filming and child pornography, after additional victims had been identified.

He faces up to 625 years in prison on top of the 560 years he faces from the 26 original charges. The combined total possible prison time from the two cases is 1,185. The charges also carry the possibility of hundreds of years of extended supervision.

The Gateway Technical College student allegedly met his victims after he offered to his classmates to babysit their children in his Jacato Drive apartment.

He's been bound over for trial, and will next appear in court on Dec. 21. Richter remains in the Racine County Jail on a $1,000,000 cash bond.

Doesn't no contest do the same thing? He still needs to be found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, so the burden is on the prosecutors anyway, isn't it? That's how I always understood it.

this is just a preliminary plea. at his sentencing he will give his official plea. no contest just means that you are not contesting and if you find evidence to prove your innocence at a later time you can. Guilty plea does not allow for that, at least that is how a judge in franklin court described it.

He shouldn't be imprisoned. Using tax payers money to feed & house that bi..h. He should be euthanized like a rabid mutt. Or handed over to the victims family members to do with what they want to his extremely sick & perverted self. My true beliefs!
