DA Files Charges Against Woman Who Participated In YouTube Fist Fight

Both girls voluntarily fought one another, but the older girl -- now 18 -- is facing felony charges.

A woman was charged by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office today with child abuse and disorderly conduct for fighting in a park with a 14-year-old girl, which ended up being recorded and posted on YouTube.

Amanda Wise, 18, of Caledonia, was charged with a felony count of physical abuse to a child, and misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and bail jumping. If convicted of all charges, Wise faces up to six and a half-years in prison and up to $21.000.

The 14-year-old girl, who voluntarily participated in the fight, was also referred for charges in March, but it is unclear if charges have been filed in juvenile court.

Wise and the 14-year-old girl would have gotten away with the fight if someone wouldn't have posted a recording of the fight on YouTube. The fight, which was recorded and uploaded to YouTube, happened at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 26 at Mt. Pleasant-Caledonia Park, 9614 Northwestern Ave.

According to a report by the Caledonia Police Department, the 14-year-old girl had a scratch on her cheek and a large bump on her forehead, and the 17-year-old girl had scratches and a black eye.

The two girls fought over comments made on Facebook. Police watched the video, which has been taken down.

Police also noted Joseph Wise, Amanda’s brother, was telling the two girls to keep fighting as he gave instructions on how to fight. He was also seen holding a beer bottle. Another girl marked the fight in rounds.

A witness told police the fight “was a fair fight and nobody really got hurt.”

Joseph Wise, 21, was charged with two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, disorderly conduct and two counts of bail jumping in March.
