Fire Rips through Classic Car Company

No one injured, but several fire departments helped to put out the blaze.

A fire ripped through Valenti Classics, 355 S. 27th St., at 6:46 p.m. tonight.

According to a press release from the Racine County Sheriff’s Department, an off duty firefighter from the City of Racine Fire Department reported seeing smoke coming from the roof.

Personnel from the Raymond Fire and Rescue responded and reported smoke and flames on the northwest side of the building. Firefighters forced entry and found the fire, which was contained in a service bay of the business. Firefighters from Union Grove-Yorkville, Oak Creek, Caledonia, Franklin, Kansasville, South Shore and Wind Lake responded.

After an initial investigation, the cause of the fire was determined to be from welding that was done earlier on a 1955 Chevrolet model 210, which was being worked on. No employees were on scene as the business was closed at the time of the fire.

The estimated amount of damage has not yet been determined.
