Man Arrested for Drunk Driving After Wife Asks for Divorce

Racine man tries to drown his sorrows after his wife asked him for a divorce. The night just got progressively worse from there.

A Racine man was arrested for suspicion of drunk driving and having a prohibited alcohol content after he got his car stuck at 12:25 a.m. Sunday in the 5700 block of Douglas Avenue.

According to a report by the Caledonia Police Department, a police officer saw a blue Chevrolet Cobalt stuck in the mud in front of the Country Inn Motel about 30 feet from the driveway.

The driver of the car crossed into the driveway and ended up stuck in the lawn. He also told police that his wife had asked him for a divorce and that he went to the motel to stay the night.

The officer, who smelled alcohol on the man's breath, asked him how much he had to drink. The man told the officer he had 10 beers and a Long Island iced tea over a three-hour timeframe.

The man’s blood-alcohol level was .20, well over the .08 legal limit. He was arrested, and his estranged wife picked him up from jail.
