'Savers Card' Leads Police To Woman Suspected Of Shopping Theft

Caledonia Police arrest local woman who 'skip scanned' her shopping trip.

A woman was arrested for three municipal citations of theft after she neglected to scan all of the groceries in her cart and then left with the items.

According to a report by the Caledonia Police Department, investigators arrested Adrienne Gibson-Stulo, 27, of Caledonia, after they saw a video recording of her pretending to scan about $447 in groceries in three trips between 9:30 p.m. April 21 and 1:32 p.m. April 30 at Pick ‘N Save, 5111 Douglas Ave.

The stolen items included: baby food, batteries, lotion, hair products, diapers, milk, steak, corn and water.

Police learned of Gibson-Stulo’s identity because she used her Roundy’s Saver Card and entered her telephone number each time she checked out.

Gibson-Stulo had come into the store at 12:19 on Wednesday, May 4 and paid for three items totaling $21, but there were items in her cart that she didn't pay for, police said. When security officials confronted Gibson-Stulo she claimed that the store’s equipment was faulty and left the store.

When police confronted Gibson-Stulo at her residence and arrested her, she denied taking the item at first. But then told police her hours had been cut at St. Luke’s Hospital and that “sometimes money is tight.”
