Stealing Toys In Caledonia Still Lands You In Jail

An 18-year-old Racine man and a 42-year-old Racine man were arrested for allegedly taking children's toys out of a semi-trailer at 11:09 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011 at the Pilot Travel Center, 13712 Northwestern Ave.

Montavius Everton, 727 Monticello Drive, and Jeffrey Williams, 3923 Erie St., were both arrested for one count of burglary-cargo portion (of a semi) and three counts of attempted burglary, according to a report by the .

Officers were called to a report of a burglary in progress after a witness told police he saw two men in the parking lot. He realized the rear doors on a trailer were open and several boxes were missing.  When the man called the police, the Caledonia Police officers were in roll call.

An officer with the Mt. Pleasant Police Department happened to be in the area and stopped a car matching the description of the suspect vehicle. Caledonia officers were then able to respond and investigate the incident. They found numerous boxes of Fisher Price “Learn and Laugh” children’s play vacuums and boxes of remote controls in the car.
