YEAR IN REVIEW: Budget Repair Bill, Recall Mania, Drugs And Wal-Mart

We take a look at the top headlines in Caledonia.

The call came in at 6 a.m. and informed parents whose children attended school in the Racine Unified School District that there would be no school on Feb. 17. Almost 25 percent of the staff in the district called in sick to protest Gov. Scott Walker's budget repair bill, which essentially eliminated all public employees' ability to collectively bargain through unions.

Almost two tons of marijuana was seized in the neighboring community of Raymond. Steven Aramus, of Caledonia, was arrested and found guilty of drug charges. A former Caledonia cop, who was collecting petition signatures to trigger a recall election for Gov. Scott Walker, had a few terse words with a Republican who didn't think he had permission to collect them at Infusino's restaurant. And, a number of members from the Caledonia Conservancy strongly opposed Wal-Mart coming into the community.
