How Did Caledonia Vote? Residents Favored Hovde
Wondering how Caledonia voted in the election yesterday? We've got several key races broken down for you, including the U.S. Senate, First Congressional District and the 62nd State Assembly races.
With voter turnout at 26 percent, Caledonia faired a little better in voter turnout in the primary election Tuesday than was predicted. The Government Accountability Board predicted voter turnout to be 20 percent, and of the 17,454 registered voters in the Village of Caledonia, 4,547 cast their ballot.
And while the Village followed along the same lines in election results for some of the races, one key race stands out β voters favored Eric Hovde over Tommy Thompson in the U.S. Senate race. Thompson ended up being the top vote getter in that race and heβll now face Democratic nominee Tammy Baldwin in November.
Another number that stood out was the number of votes cast for Republican nominee Tom Weatherston, who ran unopposed in the primary. He garnered 2,545 votes. However, the winner of the Democratic nomination, Melissa Lemke, received 462 votes.
