If the Village didn't Collect your Recyclables, would you Recycle?

A provision in the proposed state budget would eliminate part of the funding the village relies on to keep the program going.

All of those recycled items the Village pays a third-party to come pick up at your house might be a thing of the past.

While the Village hasn't chucked the program, losing about 1/4 of the funding for the program puts it on shaky ground. And unless the Village Board votes to fully fund the $411,000 program, the program could get tossed.

But there's a catch, while the state will likely pull the plug on the program, the state law regarding recycling remains. That means, unless the Village decides to fund it, individual property owners will still be obligated to recycle and pick up the tab.
