Tiderman Pulls Out Of Caledonia Trustee Race

Jim Tiderman, a Caledonia resident running for village trustee, has decided not to run.

Citing a work conflict, Jim Tiderman, a candidate for the Village Trustee 3 spot, has announced that he will drop out of the race.

Tiderman is part of a group that has staunchly opposed the Walmart development.

Even though Tiderman made the announcement on the No Walmart in Rural Caledonia Facebook page, his name will remain on the ballot because he can't legally take it off.

Here's what he wrote:

I wanted to let everyone know right away that due to my conflicting work schedule in the transportation industry, I will not be running for Trustee Seat #3. However, I will support Maureen Cramer throughout this election process. I cannot commit my time to the Board the way I anticipated and I am truly sorry. I will continue to support the community the same way I have tried through discussions pertaining to our Land Use Plan and current options of controlled growth.

We'll have more on the story shortly.

Good. Now we only have two choices.

Thank you,Jim, for all the hard and insightful work you and your wife Katie have done and continue to do. One of the many wonderful things about Caledonia is the high level of citizen involvement .

Hmmm. Get your name on the ballot to force a primary, and then withdraw from the race. Classy. Not!

Hey gearhead--it's so much easier to sit on the sidelines and carp. Peoples lives are not static--and I'm deleting all the snotty things I've started to say about you--

Frances, we all know this is about WalMart. Kinda snotty of you to call me out about carping, when you are doing it yourself.

You have to understand that Frances Martin is still living in the age of horsies and choo-choos. Closed minds tend to snotty when challenged in reality.

Brain, Dont you think its strange that the biggest carper in Caledonia would accuse another individual of carping. Fran has been carping over developments in the village for ever. She has most recently even found away to introduce the village to the noun carping through her latest venture CARP. And yes Fran I know what Carping is, persistent petty and unjustified criticism. Heck that could be Frans definition.

I say fine to the Conservancy. If you don't want development, than pay R-1 tax rate on all the land you own in the village. Put up, or shut up. They won't, but why does this little group have so much pull? I have not heard anyone on the board propose to pave over Caledonia.

I apologize to the good people of the Conservancy and there are many. I do not count Fran as one of the good ones. I'm sure her carbon footprint is larger than most, yet she claims she's saving Caledonia. Sheesh...

it is unfortunate that this blog has become more about personal attacks and less about the specifics of any issues confronting us as a community. there are serious consequences involved for the future depending on what choices we make, and it is really not about specific individuals, or what we think about them personally. also, some civil discourse rather than slurs on individals would go a long way to helping us as a community resolve these issues together.
