Salmon-A-Rama Kicks Off Saturday

Is this your year to land the big one? Cast your hook, line and sinker into Lake Michigan during the annual fishing competition and you could win the $15,000 grand prize.

Salmon-A-Rama, the annual Racine-based, Lake Michigan-wide fishing contest and the $15,000 offered to the winner is a tantalizing prize. Information about the prize, and all the competitions, can be found on the Salmon-A-Rama website.

For contestants reeling fish in from boats, there will now be five ports on the western coast to register fish. The remote ports will be tied in with the contest tracking program, so results will be available immediately — including on Twitter @SUWISCONSIN.

A new competition, the Salmon-A-Rama Slam is a sub-tourtament, with the winner determined by the highest total weight for five fish registered under one ticket.

There are contests for children (though they can also compete in the big competition—and win, like Samantha Boettcher did in 2011).
